I WANT TO FLY
In 2009, I took a group of children from Harlem to a camp in Canada. The trip was completely funded by the generous Victoria Thierrée Chaplin, daughter of Charlie Chaplin. I thank Victoria from my heart for what she did for them. Aurelia Thierrée, granddaughter of Charlie Chaplin, initiated the entire story.
One of the children wrote me this after many years, "Headed and write to my hand fall off because this is my passion. Thank you again Martine yes I remember going to camp those was lovely days when we was growing up. A chance to get out of the hood and relax. Give us a positive future something to look forward to growing up and staying strong. As far as the job goes I need one because this will really give me a boost and help me really for what I wanna do when it comes to these books and movies because the ideas I have keep coming coming so I gotta stay focused."- Charles
Very often when I meet them, they tell me about how happy they were to go on the plane. The pilot was very kind and let them be in the front with him. Now, each one has the movie on their phones and are proud to show it to their friends.
